Bellevue 49

 Northeast 12

 At Bellevue:

The Comets clinched a play-off spot with a 49-12 victory over Northeast. Couple that with Cascades loss to West Branch assured the Comets  a spot in the play-offs and  at least a tie for first place. Add the Comets (8-0, 6-0 district play)  victory over  2nd place West Branch (7-1, 5-1) recently, assures the Comets a play-off spot.

The game was poorly played for both teams in the first half. Execution, penalties missed tackles all were part of the first half play. Despite these problems the Comets managed a 27-12 lead at halftime

Comet quarterback hooked up with wideout Trevor Hager for two scores, 20 and 33 yards,  the first of the game coming less than four minutes into the game and the last 5-minutes before halftime.

The Comets also got a Ben Parker score  from five yds out and Tennant to  Dillon Rentz who made a diving comeback circus catch from 16-yds out.

Northeast scored on a 70 yd-pass and run play from quarterback Nate Lange to Trey MacAleer. He broke free behind the Comet secondary and raced into the end zone for 14-6 score. The Comets answered with the Tennant to Rentz TD two minutes later.

Back come  the Rebels,   running-back Dakota Stevenson scored seven minutes after the Comets turned the ball over  deep in their own territory. That gave the Rebels  great field position and they capitalized.  They missed both conversion tries and it was 27-12 at the half.

The second half was all Comets, the defense shutout the Rebels and the offense scored three more times.   Sixteen seconds into the 3rd quarter Parker scored the first of his three  touchdowns; one from 24-yds, 2-yds, and 7-yds. giving him four in the game.

Ty Kloser added 5-of 6  PAT points, and Parker scored on a  2-pt conversion run for a 49-12 final.
