At the MEC:
The Comet jv boys continued their fine play with 58-42 win over cross town rival Marquette. The young Comets with a wealth of deep quick athletes used full court pressure and stingy defense to roll past the outnumbered Mohawks. The Comets held a 17-14 lead after one quarter . They pushed that to 33-18 at the half. Balanced scoring by the Comets led by Colby Sieverding’s 13-pts was key in the stretch. Carson Michels scored 8-of his game high 22-points in the 1st half.
Bellevue used defense to go on a 16-3 run to grab a 49 21 lead in the third period. Reserves mixed with starters finished it 58-42. Michels led Marquette with 22-pts, Sieverding led the Comets with 20-points.
At the MEC:
Bellevue girls rallied back from an early 10-4 deficit to earn 43-34 victory over cross town rival Marquette. The Mohawks jumped to the lead following a 4-0 deficit. They scored ten straight points before the Comets caught fire from beyond the arc and took a 15-12 lead into halftime. Audrey Wedeking sparked the run off the bench, hitting three three’s to fuel the Comets 11- 4 run.
The Comets kept the pressure up and hit their free throws scoring 28-points in the second half.
Mariah Hueneke led the Comets scoring with 15-pts 13 in the second half including 9-straight free throws. Wedeking and Juliana Penniston added 11-points each.
Holly Kremer led the Mohawks with 11-points and Ellie O’Obrien scored 10-points off the bench for the Mohawks.
