Bellevue High School’s 1600 meter record holder Brady Griebel broke his own school  record with a third-place finish on the blue oval at the 2021 Drake Relays in Des Moines last week.

It was both cold and windy on the night of Tuesday, March 30, when the Marquette girls and boys track teams traveled to Tipton for their Early Bird Coed Invitational, but that did not stop them from starting out hot.

ANDREW— Fifteen Jackson County 4-H basketball teams competed in three divisions in the annual 4-H Basketball Tournament held March 13 in the Andrew School gym.

Delaney Banowetz and Beatrice Kemp of Marquette Catholic High School were named to the Iowa Girls Coaches Association Academic All-State Team for the 2020-21 season. Juliana Penniston and Kenna Duesing of Bellevue were also named  to the Iowa Girls Coaches Association Academic All-State Team.

The season for the Bellevue Comets 4th Grade Basketball team began in November 2020 and was halted by Covid-19 and officially started back up in December 2020.

Marquette Catholic High School in Bellevue has signed onto a cooperative agreement to play football this fall with the Northeast Goose Lake School District.

While achieving an incredible 20-2 winning season, the Bellevue girls basketball team played its final game of the post-season last Wednesday night, losing the Iowa Class 2A regional final to defending state champions North Linn.

The Marquette boys basketball team fell short of a non-conference win over city rival Bellevue last Saturday in the MEC gymnasium, as Bellevue’s Colby Sieverding came up big in the final period to lift the Comets to a 53-46 victory.

Jim Kettmann, head coach for the Marquette Catholic girls basketball team for the past 18 years, was honored for his 300th career victory a week ago Tuesday night.

The Bellevue wrestling team is smack dab in the middle of a busy two week schedule. The team did pick up a couple dual victories, but the busy schedule is forcing small changes to practice plans to deal with the increased wear and tear associated with the heavy competition load.

Colby Sieverding scored 31 points to lead the Bellevue Comets past West Liberty last Friday night. The final score was 60-42.
