What a weekend for Bellevue Wrestling! We had some amazing achievements on both the girls and boys sides of the squad. With the season winding down, it looks like everyone is starting to peak and wrestle the best that they can, which is exactly what we want as we get to this time of the season.

Another week in the books for the girls and boys wrestling programs. While it wasn’t quite as busy as the previous week, it was still just as successful. The team is preparing for the end of the season competitions as they begin the qualifying tournaments for both girls and boys state tournaments.

Last Tuesday, the Marquette boys basketball team handily defeated Edgewood-Colesburg 78-50. Kannon Still scored 19 points, Evan Scott added 17, Spencer Roeder had 11 and Caden Kettmann 10 to take the win.

The Marquette boys basketball team remained undefeated on the season with a solid 80-38 victory over Springville in a Tri-Rivers Conference matchup during the annual 2023 Marquette Homecoming game last Friday night at the MEC.

The Bellevue Comets defeated West Branch 78-58 coming off the holiday break last Saturday, with Robert Paulsen scoring an amazing 44 points on offense, while pulling down 12 rebounds. Hunter Putman scored 16, while Jensen Wedeking recorded 6 points on the night.

Ka’Lynn DeShaw scored 17 points, while Kalesia DeShaw and Kate Dunne added 11 apiece, as the Lady Comets dominated the Rebels of Northeast at home last Tuesday 51-17. Teagan Humprhey recorded 4 points, while Anika Hager and Jami Portz score 3 each.

It was another busy week for the wrestling team last week. Lots of travel for these kids with trips to West Branch, Vinton, and Nashua this week. But, if you want to be the best, you have to find the best competition that you can, and we did.

Bellevue was edged out by Panorama for first place but finished just ahead of Alburnett to take second-place honors in Class I Lyrical on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022, at the Iowa Dance Championships 2023 in Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

It has been a very eventful week for the Bellevue wrestling team. With events on four out of the seven days the wrestling team earned a well-deserved Sunday off.

Marquette volleyball took to the court in Tri-Rivers Conference Pool Play at North Cedar High School last Thursday Night along with North Cedar, Calamus-Wheatland, and Easton Valley. Marquette's first match of the night, Cal-Wheat was a battle to the very end.

The Bellevue Comet Volleyball Team is now 17-5 after defeating Marquette 2-0 last Saturday at the annual Marquette Tournament. Last Thursday, the Lady Comets were also victorious against Maquoketa and the week prior defeated Anamosa 3-0 as well.
