The LaMotte Area Advancement Committee is proud to report that the installation of the new playground equipment and sidewalks in the LaMotte City Park has been completed. We began our Pump Up the Park project approximately 4 years ago and with the amazing support of the LaMotte community and beyond, we were able to raise all of the necessary funds and proceed with our community build project.
We would like to thank everyone who supported our project whether it was with a monetary donation or with their support of our Herky Hustle Tailgate and Chili Cook Off events with chili entries, donated/ purchased auction items and giving of their valuable time to make these events so successful.
Thanks also to those who sponsored events with the proceeds benefiting our fundraising efforts. These include Molly and the late Steve Steines with Music on Main, St. Paul Lutheran Church in LaMotte and Little Sprouts Daycare in LaMotte.
Appreciation also goes out to the Mayor, City Council and City Clerk of the City of LaMotte for their support and funding towards our project.
We were also so grateful to receive grant awards from the Community Foundation of Jackson County along with the Theisen’s More For Your Community Grant, the Alliant Energy Foundation Grant, the Walmart Foundation Community Grant, the McDonough Foundation Grant and the Aureon Charity Grant in conjunction with the LaMotte Telephone Co. Their support was instrumental in our fundraising efforts.
Special thanks to all of the ‘in-kind’ donors for their time, labor, expertise, equipment and generosity in stepping up and helping us take this project through all of the final stages in a very short period of time. These include Gary Bonifas with Bonifas Builders, Todd Konrardy with Mainline Excavating, Bill Hutchcroft, McDermott Excavating, Troy and Loras Weber with Weber Concrete, John and Diane Schneider with Bellevue Sand and Gravel, Nick Ludwig with Ludwig Electric and Pump Service, Jeremy Kubitz with Kubitz Logging, Behn Stump Grinding, Austin Huss with Huss Implement, Mike Clasen with Clasen’s Auto Service, Steve Ehlinger with Ehlinger Construction, Freiderick Welding and Repair, Locust St. HyVee, Darrell Clasen, Carl Nemmers, Ben Arthofer with Skyline Construction, Kyle and Nicole Manders and Joe and Charleen Kilburg.
One last group of people that we were so fortunate to have help were the greater than 100 volunteers who were there to unload, sort and assist with the 2 days of installation. The sheer number of people was incredible as well as the quality of their work. With this we were able to complete the installation including the drainage tubes and rubber mulch by the end of Saturday. It was amazing.
Throughout the course of this endeavor we repeatedly were reminded of the kindness, generosity and determination to make our city and community the best it can be. We are so proud to say “Job well done “, and to call the LaMotte Community our home. Now we can begin to reap the benefits of our efforts with the joy of watching the children enjoy their new playground.
