The Miles Volunteer Fire Department, Preston Volunteer Fire Department and the Community Ambulance Service (staffed by volunteers) are slated to receive the proceeds from the 4th Annual Benefit Pull held this Saturday, August 24 at the Miles Thresher’s Grounds. The three organizations and the event committee met and have decided that the majority of the profits will now be directed to the Dan Miller Family.
Those who would like to volunteer to help at the Benefit Pull (taking tickets, food stand, etc.) please contact Melissa Jargo at 563-212-4973. There will be a silent auction as well and you can contact Nancy Kieffer at 563-357-9083 regarding silent auction donations and please reach out to Mary Assenmacher at 563-689-6664 if you are interested in donating items for the bake sale.
Dan Miller was airlifted to and remains hospitalized at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City following an explosion at his home in rural Preston on Friday, August 16. Dan’s wife Jen (Huling) Miller and the couple’s two girls were not at home at the time.
Jen Miller has shared through a friend her gratitude and thankfulness for all of the thoughts and prayers regarding the loss of their home and for Dan and the road ahead. Immediate clothing and supply needs have been met and due to lack of storage available, it is suggested that those willing to help make monetary donations or share gift cards.
Monetary donations for the Dan Miller Family can be dropped off at Maquoketa State Bank, any Clinton National Bank location or Plastics Unlimited.
