Janet Messinger and Edwin Ruchotzke were married on Saturday, Aug. 24, 1968, in a candlelight ceremony at 7 p.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church in Clinton. They honeymooned in Niagara Falls.
Edwin and Janet have farmed the family farm near Delmar for the past 50 years. Janet worked as a CNA at local care facilities and is a homemaker. They are now retired. They are the parents of twin daughters Jody and Amy Ruchotzke and they have eight grandchildren: Jody and Nathan Shroeder, and their children Maeric, 12, and Malynah, 10; and Amy and Aaron Morriss, and their children Mitchell, 20, and Melanie Matyasse, 18, Lucas, 12, Aaliyah, 7, Rafe Morris, 6 months, and Travis Gerardy, 3.
To observe the occasion, the family is hosting an open house Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at the United Methodist Church in Delmar. The open house is 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. with Matthiesen’s catering the event. The family requests no gifts, just stop by and enjoy family, friends and food.
