DONATION TO D.A.R.E.

ASSISTANT BELLEVUE POLICE CHIEF Bud Schroeder (left) recently accepted a $700 donation from Gary Kilburg of Bellevue American Legion Post #273 for the Bellevue D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program at Bellevue Community Schools. The donation came about as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, as the Legion was supposed to run the first week of the Bender’s Foods Brat Stand. However, Kilburg said that a lot of Legion volunteers were older veterans who were at a higher risk of infection, so they called Bud, who came to the rescue to volunteer with a group of his reserve officers from the Bellevue Police Department. Schroeder said the funds will be used for educational materials for the Bellevue D.A.R.E. program.
