A bright idea for bellevue

FARMERS MARKET SHINES: Mike Griffin of the new Jackson County Energy District group (left) was at the Bellevue Farmers Market last Thursday afternoon giving away energy-efficient light emitting diode (LED) light bulbs in a new effort to help folks conserve energy and reduce electric bills. This savings is both good for the environment and good for the consumers pocket books, therefore a win-win situation, Griffin said. The Jackson County Energy District encourages residents and businesses to conserve energy and produce local energy as a sustainable local project. Jerry Walsh of Bellevue (right) nabbed a few of the LED bulbs for his home on Second Street.  The local conservation group is also planning to host a ‘Solar Fair’ October 24 at 10 a.m. to promote the benefits of solar power. Look for more information on that event in coming issues of the Bellevue Herald-Leader.
