Theresa was born Sept. 30, 1928, to Peter and Katherine Banowetz Reuter. She was raised on the family farm, west of the Sugar Creek Church. She married Thomas Hansen on June 4, 1947, at St. Joseph’s Church at Sugar Creek in Preston. He passed away in March of 2004.
Theresa was a self-employed seamstress in her home on 14th Street in DeWitt for many years. She also did alterations for Walkers Department Store when they were in business.
She enjoys quilting and word puzzles.
Her children are Tim (Bonnie) Hansen of DeWitt, and Mona (Carl) Clapp of Camanche, and two foster sons, Stanley Opala of Clinton, and Charles Gaske of California. She has three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
